Technical studies for the construction of development projects for the utilisation of the Polycentre of Ptolemaida.

Description
The redevelopment plan for the Ptolemaida Commercial Centre includes the addition of two fully operational floors with a roof structure to the central core of the existing ground-floor building. It also involves the maintenance and functional upgrade of the existing ground-floor buildings, as well as the restoration and reactivation of the underground parking area.
Within the scope of the project, the following were completed:
Topographic, architectural, and structural surveys of the building.
Structural adequacy study of the existing building infrastructure.
Geotechnical study and foundation investigation of the existing structure.
Project dossier covering two sub-projects:
Maintenance and repair of the existing facilities and addition of one floor with roofing to the existing ground-floor structures of the Commercial Centre.
Extension of underground parking areas and construction of two new buildings within Block 177 of the Commercial Centre.
Result

Utilisation of the Ptolemaida Commercial Centre and Market area to centralise municipal services and improve efficiency.

Preparation of the necessary technical studies for the construction of the border crossing station, including geotechnical, topographic, hydrogeological, architectural, environmental studies, etc., as well as redevelopment works in the settlement of Lemos.

Description
The project is funded by the INTERREG-IPA CBC “Greece – Republic of North Macedonia” 2014–2020 programme and concerns the maturation of the necessary works to be implemented on both sides of the Greece–North Macedonia border in the Prespa region, for the opening of a cross-border checkpoint.
The project partners include:
– The Region of Western Macedonia (Lead Partner),
– The Ministry of Interior (Macedonia–Thrace Department),
– ANKO – Western Macedonia Development Agency, and
– The Ministry of Interior of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The total project budget amounts to €690,000.00.
Corresponding actions are foreseen on the side of North Macedonia, specifically including studies for the redesign and renovation of the border police station in Markova Nova.
These actions are supported by:
Project management and publicity activities, and
The preparation of the studies:
Prespes Destination Branding, and
Management Plan for Touristic Flows in the Prespa region following the opening of the border crossing.
The implementation of this project constitutes a prerequisite for the construction phase of the cross-border checkpoint infrastructure, which will be proposed under the new programming period 2021–2027.
Result

Integrated development of the wider Prespes area and strengthening of cross-border ties in environment, tourism, culture, and economy.

Development of cross-border cooperation on energy saving and renewable energy sources.

Description
The project, funded under the INTERREG IPA CBC “Greece–Albania” 2014–2020 programme, was implemented by five partners from both Greece and Albania. It focused on cross-border cooperation in the fields of energy efficiency and the utilisation of Renewable Energy Sources (RES).
Specifically, through the implementation of project activities in primary and secondary school buildings, the aim was to inform and raise awareness among students, while also mobilising the educational system more broadly on issues related to energy saving and the use of RES. In parallel, a public awareness campaign was carried out, targeting the adult population of the region.
The project activities included:
Analysis of the current situation regarding energy consumption and RES utilisation, along with educational activities within the school community.
Development of an energy-saving model and pilot actions, including the installation of RES systems in a school complex.
Creation of LED Centres and educational laboratories.
Networking activities among stakeholders at the cross-border level.
Result

Energy savings and increased use of RES in public school buildings.

Formulation of a common framework of priorities for energy saving by public administration bodies.

Description
The project, funded under the INTERREG MED 2014–2020 programme, was implemented by 13 partners from Italy, Spain, Greece, Croatia, and Portugal. It focused on strengthening the decision-making capacity of public administration bodies in matters related to energy efficiency.
The main objective was to enhance the policy-making and strategic planning capabilities of local and regional public authorities in the energy management of public buildings across five Mediterranean countries: Italy, Portugal, Spain, Greece, and Croatia.
Specifically, the project developed a toolkit to promote energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources (RES) in municipal public buildings. Priority was given to municipal investments, with the identification and preparation of five pilot actions in each participating region.
The implementation of the toolkit followed three key stages:
