TECHNICAL STUDY FOR THE INTERCONNECTION PIPELINE OF THE KOZANI DISTRICT HEATING SYSTEM WITH THE UNIFIED DISTRICT HEATING NETWORK OF WESTERN MACEDONIA / KOZANI & FLORINA REGIONAL UNITS

TECHNICAL STUDY FOR THE INTERCONNECTION PIPELINE OF THE KOZANI DISTRICT HEATING SYSTEM WITH THE UNIFIED DISTRICT HEATING NETWORK OF WESTERN MACEDONIA / KOZANI & FLORINA REGIONAL UNITS

Project budget: 43.400.000,00 €
Subject

Preparation of technical studies for the installation of an interconnection pipeline between Kozani’s district heating system and the unified district heating network of Western Macedonia.

Description

According to the decarbonisation plan for Western Macedonia, the lignite-fired units supplying thermal energy to the Kozani district heating system at the Agios Dimitrios Power Plant (PP) are scheduled for decommissioning by December 2023 (Units III and IV by December 2022, Unit V by December 2023). Similarly, the Amynteo PP (Units I and II) was decommissioned in August 2020, and the Kardia PP (Units III and IV) in April 2021.
To adapt the district heating systems of Western Macedonia to the new energy landscape, the relevant stakeholders signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Strategic Cooperation (MoU). The aim is to ensure continuous thermal energy supply during the transition period and beyond, in line with the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP).
The MoU defines:
The geographical locations of new thermal energy production units for district heating
The roles and responsibilities of the involved parties to achieve this objective

Scope of the Interconnection Project
Interconnection facilities within the premises of the Kardia Power Plant
Interconnection facilities within the premises of DEYAK (Municipal Water and Sewerage Company of Kozani) in Kasla
Thermal energy transmission pipeline

Studies Foreseen Under the Current Contract
Technical studies (buildings and electromechanical works for pumping stations, transmission networks, tender documents, and Health & Safety Plans – HSP/FSP)
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
Thermal energy distribution licence
Topographic and cadastral survey
Geological study
Geotechnical study for the pumping station

Result

Interconnection of Kozani district heating with the unified district heating network of Western Macedonia.

COMPLETION OF PROJECT MATURATION FOR THE INTERCONNECTION OF THE DISTRICT HEATING SYSTEM OF AMYNTAIO OF FLORINA PREFECTURE WITH THE UNIFIED DISTRICT HEATING NETWORK OF WESTERN MACEDONIA & SUPPORT TO DETEPA FOR THE TENDERING & SUPERVISION OF THE PROJECT / FLORINA REGIONAL UNIT

Project budget: 26.800.000,00 €
Subject

Elaboration of technical studies for the interconnection of the district heating system of Amyntaio with the unified district heating network of Western Macedonia.

Description
DETEPA is planning the construction of a thermal energy transmission system using hot water circulation, to interconnect the district heating networks of Amyntaio and Ptolemaida. The project, with a nominal thermal transmission capacity of 25 MWth, includes:
A 14.5 km pipeline network
Interconnection facilities at both district heating installations
The project is funded by the Managing Authority of the Operational Programme Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development (EY/EP YMEPERAA) through a public tender procedure under Article 50 of Law 4412/2016, following official correspondence (Ref. No. 1655/17.02.2022) addressed to DETepa.
Studies and Support Services Provided by ANKO under the Current Contract
Cadastral study
Support in establishing pipeline easements
Preparation of tender documents in accordance with Article 50 of Law 4412/2016
Support during the tendering process and project supervision
Result

Interconnection of Amyntaio district heating with the unified district heating network of Western Macedonia.

TECHNICAL STUDIES FOR THE LONG-TERM OPERATION AND EXPANSION OF THE DISTRICT HEATING SYSTEM OF THE AMYNTAIO AREA OF FLORINA PREFECTURE / FLORINA REGIONAL UNIT
