Road Infrastructure Projects

1. Ptolemaida surface-level roundabout K1 k.p. 19+930,00.
At the southern entrance of Ptolemaida, at the location approximately 200 meters after the AEVAL interchange of the new Kozani – Florina national road, an area which is located in plain relief, a four-lane roundabout will be created in place of the existing K1 intersection.
2. Asvestoperta surface-level roundabout K2 k.p. 17+907,00.
At the intersection of the Western Eordaia Road with the Ptolemaida-Asvestopetra provincial road, a four-arm roundabout will be created at the location of the existing K2 intersection, which currently operates with traffic lights.
3. Ardassa surface-level roundabout K3 k.p. 16+795.00.
At the intersection of the Western Eordaia Road with the Ptolemaida – Ardassas provincial road, a four-arm roundabout will be created in place of the existing K3 intersection that currently operates with light signaling

Improvement of the Municipal Road of Agia Paraskevi – Vasilitsa – Borders of the Grevena Regional Unit, 19.753 m long. Specifically, the improvement concerns the existing municipal road from the intersection of the village of Polyneri k.p. 18+529,90 to the ski resort of Vasilitsa k.p. 38+282, with mild interventions in terms of the existing layout and asphalt paving in the existing cross-section without additional widening.

Improvement of the existing rural road in the area of the settlement of Nisi – Grevena Municipality and Karpero – Descati Municipality, in order to connect the two Municipalities with a road with a total length of 10.927,00 meters, starting from the provincial road Kentro – Nisi, at the surface-level intersection that will be created before the settlement of Nisi.

Improvement of the existing rural road, total length of 2.200 m, of the Perivoli settlement, which will serve as a bypass road to prevent the traffic of large vehicles within the narrow streets of the settlement, connecting the provincial road no17 Grevena-Perivoli of the national road network with the provincial road Perivoli-Vovousa.

Improvement of the existing rural road section in the area of the village of Ziakas, with a total length of 3.965,00 m, which will connect the provincial road no 17, Grevena-Perivoli, of the national road network, with the provincial road no18, Grevena-Polyneri.

Creation of two consecutive surface-level three-arm intersections K1, K2, on the provincial road n26, Karpero-Deskati, of the national road network, in the location of the existing bridge of the Sioutsas stream, which will serve the traffic connection of the provincial road on the one hand with the settlement of Katakali (K2) and on the other hand as a bypass road for the settlements of Dimitra and Karpero (K1). In particular:

• K1 surface-level three-arm intersection before the bridge over the Sioutsas stream in the direction of Paliuria on the Karpero-Descati road at the existing intersection with the ring road to Karpero.
• K2 surface-level three-arm intersection after the bridge over the Sioutsas Stream towards Paliuria on the Karpero-Descati road at the existing intersection with the road to Katakali.

Advancing project maturity, concerning the construction of a 3,000-metre-long road section with a new alignment, specifically from National Road 15 (Kastoria–Prespes) at the location between the settlements of Milionas and Lemos, within the Municipality of Prespes, extending to the border with North Macedonia.
The road will be designed in accordance with O.M.O.E. (Unified Guidelines for Road Design in Greece) specifications and will feature characteristics corresponding to a Category A road—namely, an interurban road primarily intended for connectivity, with limited access to adjacent properties. More specifically, it will conform to subcategory AIII, which refers to roads linking provinces or settlements.
The project will also include the construction of a new bypass road around the settlement of Lemos, as well as the development of an entrance junction to the village, to ensure adequate access for the residents of Lemos and Agios Germanos.

Upgrading Aiani’s provincial road section no. 4 through the construction of a bridge at Chandakas.
This section will connect the new Kozani–Larisa national road – currently under construction – with the Kozani–Aiani provincial road (route no. 3), covering a total length of 3,091.00 metres.
The selected alignment results from the evaluation of multiple parameters, taking into account the existing road’s positioning.

· Proposal for the development of the Prespa region as a border area with distinct environmental characteristics.
· Preparation of a project dossier for the road connection between the settlement of Lemos and the border.
· Preparation of a project dossier for the construction of a tunnel at the location “Pervali” and the improvement of the existing road axis up to the settlement of Lemos.
· Preparation of a project dossier for the construction of building facilities for border reception services in the settlement of Lemos.
· Preparation of a framework study for the urban regeneration of the settlement of Lemos.
The scope of the above studies also includes the necessary permitting procedures for the respective construction projects, in accordance with the applicable legislation.

The project concerns the improvement of the existing trail, which has been significantly damaged in several sections and requires maintenance and extension with new segments. The objective is to integrate additional areas (settlements) that meet the necessary criteria into the trail network.
The maintenance of the existing trails, combined with the new alignments—most of which follow a common route—will act as a complementary infrastructure to the broader tourism development strategy of the Regional Unit of Grevena.
Visitors traversing the two international trails, E4 and E6, will have the opportunity to deviate from the main route and explore both the existing and newly proposed trails of ecological and touristic interest. These alternative routes, which are bidirectional, are designed to be more thematic and less mountaineering-oriented, with an emphasis on reduced difficulty wherever possible, thus enhancing accessibility and visitor experience.

Junction K1: At-grade intersection on National Road 15 with the Municipal Road leading to Mikró Seiríni, Regional Unit of Grevena.
Junction K2: At-grade intersection on National Road 2 with the Provincial Road leading to Korissós, Regional Unit of Kastoria.
Junction K3: At-grade intersection on National Road 3 with the Provincial Road leading to the Community of Néos Kafkásos, Regional Unit of Florina.
Junction K4: At-grade intersection on National Road 3 with the Provincial Road leading to the Community of Melíti, near the Industrial Area (VIPE) of Florina.
Junction K5: At-grade intersection on National Road 3 in the area of Fanária Vévis, Regional Unit of Florina.
Junction K6: At-grade intersection on National Road 20 with the Northern Ring Road of Kozani, at the boundary of the Community of Vatero.

Improvement of the road section of the existing municipal road of Kozani, starting from the intersection of Thalis Milisiou and Karyditsis streets and extending to its connection with the Kozani–Larissa National Road (in the area of the airport and the “Katakis” car dealership), with a total length of 4,054 metres, passing through a narrow rural road.
This is an existing road which, upon improvement, will acquire the characteristics of a ring road, facilitating easy and rapid access for residents of the southern part of Kozani to the Kozani–Larissa National Road. The intervention is expected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion within the urban fabric of the city.

Improvement of approximately 1,380 metres of the provincial road through the construction of a two-metre-wide pavement on the right-hand side and a variable-width pavement on the left-hand side. The project also includes the construction of drainage and sewerage infrastructure, street lighting, and road surfacing using sub-base, base, and asphalt layers where necessary, in order to ensure the road meets the required width and safety standards.

Following an agreement between the Region of Western Macedonia, EGNATIA ODOS S.A., and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the completion of the road section “Rymniou Interchange (Karyditsa Kozanis) – Northern Abutment of Rymniou Bridge” will be implemented under the following conditions:
The remaining 4,830-metre road section (Kipos – Northern abutment of Rymniou Bridge) will be constructed with a cross-section of 11/13, identical to the already constructed and operational 11,030-metre section.
The existing 11,030-metre section will undergo maintenance, including the construction of transition embankments for technical structures and asphalt works.
